More tests to be run Monday - Wednesday of this coming week to further characterize these masses. All Chapelwood members are being asked to set aside time August 10 through August 24 to pray as we prepare for the Stewardship of Presence Commitment Weekend. Besides praying for individuals and the commitments we make, here are some helps for your prayer time:
V Sit still, quieting your mind and heart from other activities. Slowly allow your focus to move from yourself to God.
V Use Psalm 100 as a prayer to enter into your time. Offer the words as a prayer to God. You might slowly pause and offer your own words to God as Psalm 100 speaks for you.
V Offer yourself to God in confession. Ask God to forgive you of any known sin. If possible, name the specific thing(s) for which you need forgiveness. As you end your confession, sit still for a moment and sense God's love embracing you.
V Pray for the people who will make commitments at Chapelwood on August 27 and 28. Include those in your small group, your ministry and yourself.
V You might pray specifically that those making commitments will experience a closer relationship with God by:
· Growing in their knowledge, understanding and love of God. · Growing together as a Community of Grace. · Sharing their faith with others. · Actively participating in a small group. · Using their S.H.A.P.E. to become more involved in ministry.
V If you have a church directory, open it and begin praying for Chapelwood members by name. Ask God to help each one be open to the work God is doing in them. If you do not have a directory, pray this prayer for as many people you can think of, especially those in your small group and ministry.
V Pray for Jim Jackson and the Chapelwood staff. Pray for as many staff members by name as possible.
V End your prayer time by offering the Lord's Prayer.
